For those of you without dinner plans: A reminder that tonight on Hawthorne, between 5:30 and 8pm, Burgerville is donating 10 percent of its proceeds to the homeless nonprofit Sanctity of Hope.

Matt Davis was news editor of the Mercury from 2009 to May 2010.

  1. Amy and I have just been doing the math on this.

We reckon $1800 over three hours, divided by 10, is $180 for the homeless. Tops. And is that better publicity than shutting your restrooms so they’re for the use of customers only?

Context might help you not look like a crotchety wing-nut, Matt. For example, letting the general readership know what the shutting of restrooms has to do with Burgerville donating money to charity. Or some rationale for how business’s charitable donations should be viewed through the lens of publicity.

You seem to be complaining about Burgerville directing a portion of its proceeds to helping the homeless, but upon close examination of the text, you don’t seem to actually try and put forth an argument.

    Bang up job, per usual…

  3. WAT??????

    No seriously, WAT?????

Is this the part where you start threatening legal actions against those that dare suggest your writing isn’t always up to snuff? Pure comedy gold, mate. Keep it up.
