Seems that there’s been an increase in options for the perpetually brunch starved Portlander. And while I’d like to keep them under my hat so I don’t have to stand in line for hours before wrapping my lips around a Bloody Mary and some poached eggs, I’m feeling generous today. Besides, I left my hat at home.

Accanto (2832 Southeast Belmont)

This little joint is essentially Genoas little brother. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is closer to neighborhood bar than fancy restaurant, and the brunch is only three weeks old. Try the sage biscuits and gravy. Brunch is Saturday and Sunday only and as of last weekend, tables are easy to find.

EaT! (3808 North Williams): Jazz Brunch

EaT is kicking off a regular NOLA-style jazz brunch beginning April 4th. Along with the jazz from Reggie Houston’s Box of Chocolates, you’ll be able to hit the oysters, grits, turtle soup, and soft shell crab Po-Boys. Also: Hurricanes. Nothing says Sunday like a mess of sweet booze.

Tasty and Sons (3808 North Williams)

Just down the street from EaT, John Gorham of Toro Bravo fame has opened up the brand spankin’ new Tasty and Sons. Open 9 am-3 pm, Mon-Sat, the place is big on brunch options that are out of the ordinary, like chocolate-potato donuts and North African sausages. Food Dude over at Portland Food and Drink has a first impression worth the read.

  1. Damn you, PAC and Food Dude. Now the masses will descend upon Tasty & Sons and I will never get in there w/o a wait ever again. I snuck in last week and had a fantastic brunch there.
rb, the last two DO share an address. They’re both in the N Williams HUB building.

  2. These sound pretty great. Still, I’ll have a hard time giving up my weekend mornings at the horsebrass for them. One plate with sausage, irish back bacon, ham, eggs any style, baked beans, stewed tomatoes, fried potatoes, toast, and fry bread for $7.50. Plus soccer and a crowd that will never look at you funny for starting your morning out with an russian imperial stout or six.

  3. Yum! Can’t wait to try some new spots. I wonder PAC if you might consider my suggestion to present a list of brunches that serve until 3:00? The late brunch crowd pleasers. I can never get out early on brunchy days and feel quite limited by the meager supply of late afternoon options. There’s only so many visits to the Cameo one can make without totally tripping out on the decor!

  4. I was at C Bar last night and they have a big chalkboard up that says “Brunch Coming Soon!”. That’s walking distance for me, consider me intrigued.
