This friendly wine bar/bottle shop makes for a neat neighborhood spot, with seating for a dozen, and a nice selection of regional and European wines to sift through. But itโs especially worth a trip at weekends for their tastings, which are FREE; they even provide an excellent plate of cheese and crackers to go along. Theyโre prepared to veer off the beaten trackโrecently they poured a couple of quality Croatian wines, which appealed to the geek in meโbut itโs all very casual and welcoming.
The owner, Tim Moore, gave up a successful career in wine logistics to open the bar and also start his own label (Mac Wine Cellars), which he produces with winemaker Drew Voit. They produce (very) small batch Chardonnay and Pinot that sells at a reasonable $8/9 a glass respectively. The short list of glass pours are similarly priced, and they also have a beer and cider on draft. I particularly like the lack of corkage fee on bottles drunk in house.
