“>reported the biggest news of the week, namely that police have arrested the alleged murderer of Daniel Brophy, who was fatally shot at the Oregon Culinary Institute in early June. “>took a look at how 45’s tariff war with China might devastate Oregon’s hazelnut industry. It looks like it ain’t gonna be pretty, because the paper says the state produces 99 percent of US filberts and exports a lot of them to China. Lastly, it reported that 10 Burgerville employees at the NE Glisan/82nd shop were sent home from work last month for wearing “Abolish ICE” and “No one is Illegal” buttons before placing its no-button policy on hold during union negotiations.
Finally, Eater <a href=”https://pdx.eater.com/2018/9/5/17824256/portland-alma-chocolate-expansion-closure-southeast
“>reported that Alma Chocolate will shutter its SE 7th location because it outgrew the space (it’s looking for something larger). And it <a href=”https://pdx.eater.com/2018/9/6/17829956/buttons-burgerville-ban-update
“>followed up on an Oregonian story about Burgerville’s “button problem.” The day after the incident, the chain put its no-button policy on hold and gave those employees their back pay. But now, the company says its banning all buttons beginning September 13.
