This week’s Last Supper is concerned with mathematics (minimally) and pie (maximally). As March 14th approaches (3.14), hungry nerds around the globe are tucking in napkins and honing straightedge and compass skills in anticipation of eating pie while they traipse along the nonrepeating digits that are the wonderland of the mathematical constant Pi [3.14159265].
Hey, if you need an excuse to eat pie I’m not going to judge you. At least Pi Day may induce a little learnin’ along with the inevitable “pie mania” common among those who over-indulge in rhubarb and lemon meringue.
This week’s discussion is an easy one. Do you plan on celebrating Pi Day? If so, where and how? (If you’re not sure, dig in to this week’s column for six awesome pie emporiums.) Also acceptable in the comments: Pi jokes, pie recipes, quotes from that Sopranos episode where Tony buys racehorse Pie-Oh-My.

I am aware of a Pi day party going on on Sunday but will sadly be out of town. If the weather continues in this rainy vein, I think it’d be a great day for savory!

So, five years from now, Pi Day will fall on 3/14/15? Cool. ๐ (Though, technically, if you’re going to round up, 3/14/16 would be a bigger deal.)
Pacific Pie Company is celebrating Pi Day too!
