LOCAL DIARY COMICS CREATOR Emi Lenox has been documenting her life online for two years in EmiTown (emitown.blogspot.com), an innovatively drawn comics-form chronicle of daily triumphs and disappointments that’s threaded through with song lyrics and populated by adorable characters as well as Emi’s friends and fellow comics artists. The strip was recently picked up for publication by Image Comics; in light of the upcoming print release (and art show and release party at Floating World Comics), Emi and I sat down to talk about the evolution of her work, a conversation she’s illustrated for us here—just another episode in the ongoing narrative of EmiTown.

Alison Hallett served nobly as the Mercury's arts editor from 2008-2014. Her proud legacy lives on.

  1. gee, I don’t know if this is as good as the dinosaur cartoon in the back of the merc. This cartoon has actual illustrations….ones that even change! It might be too complex for me.

  2. I like this girl’s style. I’ve read it online a few times and I think it’s wonderful she’s getting published. Everybody should definitely check it out. =)
