Ladies, may I introduce Laura Hall. Feminist Icon. The 20-year-old has become the first person to be banned from buying or drinking alcohol anywhere in England. According to the Daily Fail Mail:
She has been convicted of a series of public order offenses, and had flouted bans from pubs and clubs through local Pub-Watch schemes in her home town of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
This is why I’m proud to be an American. We don’t punish hot, drunk girls. We give them television shows. Endorsement deals. Occasionally we have to sacrifice them to Bret Michaels, but them’s the breaks.

What a nightmare. The land of jury trials, the home of a remarkable common law legal system, and a traditional bastion of individual liberty has devolved into an island run by nosy and self-righteous petty bureaucrats armed with kafka-esque (and jury-less)legal orders. Their goal is nothing less than the crushing of independent liberty without all those traditional protections afforded to the accused.
I’d drink lots too, if I lived there.
(In fact, I plan on hoisting a glass at a nice American pub in Ms. Hall’s honor this evening. Please do the same.)
