The US Senate has put a halt to the bill that would repeal the military’s “Don’t ask don’t tell” policy that bars openly gay and lesbian soldiers from serving in the armed forces.

The bill came up short on a 56-43 vote, just 4 votes shy of the 60 needed to win. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs promises, “we’ll keep trying” to get Congress to approve the repeal.

Unsurprisingly, every Republican voted to stop the repeal. BOOOO!! HISSSS American Senate!

  1. To rip off the Onion a bit here, I think the US Congress and military are very open and honest about the reason for refusing us to be openly in the military: the lives of homosexual men and women are precious and we should be spared the burden of war.
