“Earlier this month at Dragon Con, Brian Parsley and his longtime partner George Lewis recreated the cover of Astonishing X-Men #51, where Northstar gets married to his partner Kyle Lindau in front of pretty much all of Marvel’s mutants,” writes Topless Robot’s Rob Bricken. “The only difference? Northstar actually did get married, but Dragon Con was held in Atlanta, and Georgia has banned same-sex marriage. Parsley and Lewis have said they would definitely have made the ceremony official if they could have. Which got me thinking. Technically, fictional mutants have more rights than real gay people.”

Aw.

Alison Hallett served nobly as the Mercury's arts editor from 2008-2014. Her proud legacy lives on.

  1. Man this is just amazing that despite the whole legality issue of gay marriage, these two are willing to perform a ceremony to show how much they love each other. Also as a nerd I was so happy to see it in a con setting, it is a place that truly breaks down barriers of what people are supposed to be and embrace all that conservative homophobes reject.
