I don’t know when it happened exactly, but the use of synthetic smells is out of control. The perfumes, cologne, and even makeup is scented with enough smells to make your eyes water. These things are loaded with solvents, crude oils, and things that screw with your central nervous system. It’s baffling how many people in Portland are using some form of synthetic fragrances. I don’t know when our values changed but not only is it an assault on the senses, but it’s almost as though we’re aspiring to be disingenuous. I can literally taste your synthetic fabric softener as your close dry. The whole block can, and it’s not necessary. There are other products out there, and really amazing natural oils. What happened to embracing your own smell? It’s now in all the hand sanitizer. What happened to keeping things natural? Tropical breeze, crude oil, fake-ass smelling like taxi cab air freshener. I can literally see the stink lines and the synthetic soaps on your skin. Throw out the febreeze, fabric softener and perfume, make-up, visit natural grocers and by a bottle of lavender oil.
