I find it really hard to understand* why people in positions of influence and power always feel they don’t have to abide by the rules. Another example of an elitist thinking their money, power and prestige is why they’re the smartest person in the room. Either that, or their cheerleaders/lobbyists are trying to get another paperweight champion to further their corporate overloads need to maximize their ROI.
P.S. I don’t find it hard to understand. The reason is for profit and it’s currently the easiest way to get rich without providing blood, sweat and tears. Until America and western culture codify prioritizing people, community and environment over power and profit, it will always be.

The job of lobbyists is literally to corrupt our democracy on behalf of monied interests.
Their job is literally to hijack and subvert the will of the people to benefit those already in experiencing the excess and privileges of our society.
It’s disgusting that too many of our once bright young leaders have been distracted and corrupted by industrialists who engage in social justice washing while exploiting our workers, poisoning our land, and stealing our water.
Accountability is coming. Those who stand against the people while playing lip service to our revolution will face a reckoning.
Justice prevails.
