Hate to break it to you but this has been a problem at live shows forever ~ long before now and long before you existed. I worked in the music industry and have seen thousands of shows, including the hundreds of shows I saw prior to my working in the industry and the hundreds of shows I saw after, too.

I feel for you, I really do, but you're screaming into the void. People going to shows are not going to STFU.

Pro tip: Seeing really loud bands is a good workaround. Dinosaur Jr. plays so loudly you can't hear yourself think, let alone talk.

Overall, I agree with you OP. I think it's pretty rude.

@1 How many shows have you seen in Europe? I don't think I've seen any personally, but from what I understand this is a problem that's way worse in the States as compared to most European countries (or maybe all over the world?)

you ought to try opera or classical music. or maybe Gregorian chants or jazz. people are quiet as mice.

The evolution of early chimp ape neanderthal homo sapien race has reached a new species. "homo-cell phone-ien". Staring away from the living instead to cell phone images and sounds of the living. Let's hope we find near or nearby households to reach out to. Music is PEACE. Some times to fucking LOUD but still a kind of PEACE. Loudly turn your mind off. Loudly claim "You're not going to take it anymore!" Loudly let others be loud. You're so loud!

When I had enough, I asked the stranger beside me to talk a little louder because I missed part of what he said to his friend. It actually worked well enough that time.
