My daughter's a teacher here. One would have to be Wait Staff at Jake's or El Gaucho,* working a full house, seven nights a week, to make what she does. And she only works nine months out of a year.

*there may be other examples of swank Portland restaurants, but unfortunately I have a problem with the human feces that gets tracked in on the patron's shoes, so I stay away from Portland restaurants altogether.
