Can you say, "hubris"? That's it in a nutshell for me. They're so concerned with maintaining power (reminds me of someone else, so many things in common!), that they are forgetting who they're working for. But the over-reliance on corporate cash is really at the forefront of their unwillingness to release that power. It feels like it's too late. Ever since the SCOTUS decided that corporations are people, it's a race to the bottom. How we fix that, I have no idea.
Why do so many young people think they deserve the CEO position without paying their dues? Leadership requires many qualities. Life experience is one of them.
