And that’s why Mr. Potato Head here backed a new law that would allow Arizonans to discriminate against anyone if they can justify their hatred with a “sincerely held religious beliefs” dodge—the law would allow people to discriminate against anyone, really, but the haters in Arizona are targeting gay people.
Anderson makes a great point: LGBT people aren’t protected from discrimination in Arizona. So it’s perfectly legal for Arizona business owners and individuals to discriminate against gay people in the provision of goods and services wedding cakes and B&B accommodations. Which means this divisive, idiotic new law that legalizes faith-rationalized discrimination is completely unnecessary. The haters in Arizona already have free reign.

Cooper’s point is alright, but is the current license to discriminate an argument against the bill really? Why not account for large swaths of the population that could be excluded for “religious” reasons?
I think if people want to wrap themselves in the Bible as a reason to discriminate, then they need to discriminate against people that commit EVERY sin mentioned in their holy book.
Why stop with the gays?
Then why can’t airport bar muslims from travel which would have prevented the 911 attack.
