Treefort Music Fest is an amazingly diverse, fluid, comfortable, and professional five-day party. For the festival's fifth year, Boise, Idaho played host to hundreds of artists, a noticeable percentage of which were women. Serious thank you and props to the bookers and organizers for being a cut above the rest in terms of support and inclusivity this year. With so many performances throughout the week, it's impossible to hit every show you want to see—but I managed 60, a new record! My Treefort standouts: the incomparable Charles Bradley, Built To Spill, San Francisco's Tartufi, Hinds from Madrid, CocoRosie, Mimicking Birds (fresh off of a tour opening for Sir Johnny Marr), and New York's Ali Balectic—a wonderful show to stumble upon.
