Since every cute animal needs their own day here on Blogtown—and Fridays are reserved for felines—I herby make the decree that today is Owl Wednesday! This cute little ball of fur and beak was discovered yesterday in Florida by my in-laws.
I think it hatched in our attic; we have heard it for a week or so, but we never could spot it until this afternoon when I found it on the front deck, below a hole in the soffit screen. I think it is now waiting for someone to bring it food.
Mother owl has yet to bring it some food, so they have taken the initiative and fed it some hamburger. All together now, ahhhh!

I support this.
Hopefully they call the Audobon Society. If it’s been booted from the nest momma owl won’t have anything to do with it.
I fully support this!
I second the Audobon Society suggestion. I used to work at the San Francisco Zoo and we had a number of owls and eagles who were blind or otherwise handicapped because they’d been scooped up as babies by some biker who thought they’d make a really tough pet but only fed them things like hamburgers and hot dogs. Little guy needs proper nutrition.
They really need to call some pros in like the Audubon. Good intentions quickly go bad. At Portland Audubon there is a kestrel that someone found as a baby and fed hamburger. The kestrel didn’t get the calcium it needed from eating meat with bones in it and suffered malnutrition. It has a deformed beak and lives as an educational bird there now but it’s sibling who had the same problem died from severe bone deterioration. Also the thing about the mama owl not taking it back is not a definite either.
Owls! Owls? Owls!
