Just Out staffer Stephen Marc Beaudoin has quit to work for an educational consulting firm. He’ll continue to write his Corner View column, and contribute to his personal blog, From Every Corner. Beaudoin, who resists the nickname “Lil’ George,” despite his striking likeness to the (recently imprisoned) Culture Club singer Boy George, has contributed some fine arts criticism and reportage to the City of Portland, and we’re sad to see him moving on…

LIL’ GEORGE: SEEMS HE REALLY DOES WANT TO HURT US…

Good luck, Stephen!

Matt Davis was news editor of the Mercury from 2009 to May 2010.

  1. That “Corner View” link is weird.

Maybe Stephen got sick of being too closely associated with writing like, “the fifteen minutes is starting to look more like twenty or thirty.” (or maybe he wrote that…)

  2. Yeah and I see on Marty Davis’ Facebook she is trying to replace Stephen, WHAT? I also heard she hasn’t paid her current staff for some time now….WOW sounds like a plan Just Out.

  3. first of all, beadoin is not replaceable. he was the best writer and thinker that paper had seen in a long time, and i’ve been here about eight years.

he’s probably smart to jump ship – it’s a sinking one, and fast. the last commenter’s inside info is exactly what i’ve been hearing for months now, too, namely that the business is always a breath away from dying, and that employees haven’t been paid in weeks or longer.

    bon voyage, just out!!

  4. Don’t forget to mention that Marticia Davis is probably the craziest person I have ever met. It is no surprise that Pride NW has continually chosen the Merc to publish the official Pride Guide.
