"RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!"

Guys! This Sunday, the mighty Mercury Softball Team takes on the equally mighty Willamette Week team in a game that can only be termed a CLASH OF THE TITANS! The WW is having their best season ever, and while the Merc had a bit of a slow start, we’ve come roaring back in late season play. So I predict that this game will be very exciting and very close.
So why don’t all you Blogtownies come out and cheer us (or them) on? It’ll be super fun, and since we have a beer license, you can drink. WOO-HOO!
Here are the deets:

Mercury vs. Willamette Week
Sunday, August 8 @ 11 am
Farragut Park (N Kerby Ave & Farragut St—off I-5, take the East Lombard street exit, turn right, drive about four blocks or so, take a left on Kerby, and go two blocks. There it is!)

Bring friends, beer, noise makers and fun!

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. Is there an unfriendly wager on this match? If you win do you get to blog about Justin Bieber on their site, and if they win they get to blog about whatever they want on your site?

  2. Nice, I’m playing in the game right afterwards, I’m so getting there early to heckle/cheer on you guys. I’ll be the fat guy other teams have dubbed as the drunk phillip seymour hoffman making an ass out of himself.

  3. There is actually a non-sanctioned side wager between myself and Michael Mannheimer from the WW. It’s a double or nothing bet—following our ping pong match—that will send me to Kenny G (that’s hiphop, right?) if we lose.

If WW wants to propose some action on this game, we’d be willing to listen.

  4. There should be a wager of one full page for the other paper to interject whatever they want (provided it’s legal). Or worse, the main article. Make it high stakes.
