Nick Fish: “We agreed our conversation would remain private.”

City Commissioner Nick Fish just emerged from his meeting with Adams, describing the conversation as “very communicative and very deliberative,” but adding, “we agreed that our conversation would be private.”

Adams gave Fish no insight into his decision or timeline, and Fish declined to say whether he thought Fish should Adams should stay in office, or resign. “He’ll be making up his mind and it’s his decision to make.”

FISH: “Conversation would remain private…”

“I’ve said publicly that I was disappointed by his conduct, and have called for a fair and independent inquiry,” said Fish. “I want people to understand that.”

“I expect to be at work on Monday with a lot of work to do,” Fish said. “I would like to say that we have a very talented council and an extremely talented group of people who have really risen to the occasion this week and not been distracted.”

Fish said “many significant issues,” including council votes this week on a resource access center for the homeless, and how many lanes the Columbia River Crossing should have, will all go ahead as planned this week, no matter what. “I can’t think of one issue that got shelved this week because of this controversy,” he continued.

Asked whether there’s some kind of secret tunnel Adams has been using to get into the building, Fish responded: “If I told you, I’d have to kill you, although I have recently discovered the vault, and have been moving all of my gold bullion into it.”
