This week’s Village Voice features their annual Queer Issue and the shirtless boys of Jersey Shore on their cover. Waitasecond… the Jersey Shore boys are gay? Not according to them, and according to the New York Post, the Village Voice didn’t inform the beefcakes that their picture would be gracing the Queer Issue. Unethical bullshit? Not according to a tweet from VV editor Tony Ortega

It’s only unethical if you think being a gay icon — or gayness itself — is somehow bad.

Actually, it’s unethical because it’s blatant misrepresentation. VV are the homophobes in this case for hiding the fact that the guys were posing for a Queer Issue. Hey, if being gay isn’t bad, then why not straight up tell them? Right, guys? Right?

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)
