If you love hair metal and movies where the underdogs triumph over extreme adversity, have I got the documentary for you! Anvil: The Story of Anvil tells… ummm… the story of Anvil, a Canadian metal band who toured with the biggies but never got big themselves. In this flick they try one last heroic European tour—with disastrous results. But hey! As long as they learn what’s really important in life and share the moral with the rest of us, we’re ALL winners right? (Sniff! Pass the hanky, goddammit.) Look for a limited release in April, and currently available on Netflix!

Tip o’ the hat to Videogum! Oh, and check out End Hits while you’re at it. They’re good too, I guess.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)
