I’m not entirely confident in the weirdly commonly held internet belief that “With enough fans, we can make this happen!“, but I do think it’s kind of a brilliant idea to have the Muppets host the Oscars, so….

Yeah. This should probably happen. Facebook here, Twitter here, blog here. It could be like Brett Ratner never even existed! And at the very least, it seems like a shame to not have Mssrs. Statler and Waldorf shouting down occasional insults from one of the Kodak Theatre’s balconies. Good luck, internet.

With honor and distinction, Erik Henriksen served as the executive editor of the Portland Mercury from 2004 to 2020. He can now be found at henriksenactual.com.

  1. Getting Betty White to host SNL is one thing but starting a petition to get the Muppets to host the Oscars is probably not going to succeed. It would be pretty awesome though. And it would be better than having Billy Crystal host yet again.

  2. Why the fuck would you want to put something so awesome on something so corrupted and turdish?

There should be a petition to make sure the muppets are never, ever allowed to cooperate with the (non-Sesame Street residing) Oscars.
