There’s only one person on the planet who can take a clunky line of dialogue like “Does this look like a team-orientated group of individuals to you?” and make it sound badass. That person is Danny Trejo.

Couple of thoughts:

โ€ข Predators was supposedly conceived by Robert Rodriguez to follow in the same vein as Aliensโ€”hence the titleโ€”and, yep, this looks a whole lot like Aliens.

โ€ข Also! Have any Blogtown readers seen other films by director Nimrรณd Antal? The only thing of his I’ve seen is Armored, which is fucking terrible.

โ€ข Also! This is weird, but am I the only one who’s kinda disappointed Topher Grace doesn’t get any love in the trailer? Dude is second-billed in the credits, right after Adrien Brody, but you wouldn’t know it from the preview. C’mon, Fox! I want to see Eric Forman fighting Predators. Preferably with Fez. And Hyde. And definitely Jackie.

โ€ข NOTE FOR MSSRS. RODRIGUEZ AND ANTAL: It’d be great if these humans found another human on the planet who was also trying to fight predators and it was Chris Hansen.

โ€ข Also, Fox? For whatever reason, I still haven’t heard from you about the original artwork I created for Pr3dator Predators. Obviously, you will want to use this image for the film’s theatrical poster. Email me, we can work something out.

  1. Of all the films Nimrod has made thus far, I’ve only seen Kontrol. Do check it out when you have the chance.

I avoided everything else post-Kontrol due to the hesitation of, well, taking the studio bait and making Vacancy-like films and then following it up with Armored.

Every time I had to endure that Armored trailer whether at an advance screening or seeing something theatrical I wanted to get up and leave for the trailer if not the following film it annoyed and irritated me so much. Irritation to the point of watching it on video late one night coupled with excessive drinking just to make it worthy of conversational fodder so I could have stated, “Yes, I saw it. It was SHIT.”

It just looked so fucking bad.

Where the hell was I with this rant?

Anyways, yeah, this new PredatorS film looks good and fun and it’s a shame old Jon McTiernan could have been involved with this film in some way. I guess he’s still dealing with that criminal charge of lying to the FBI during the investigation of Anthony Pellicano.
