As with Dragonball, I somehow managed to avoid the whole nerdgasm around Avatar: The Last Airbender, back when it was a just a cartoon and before M. Night Shyamalan decided to make a movie out of it and before James Cameron, cackling with glee, swooped in and stole half of its title. But here’s the ad for The Last Airbender that’s going to show during the Super Bowl, and maybe it’s just because it uses the same dumb-but-effective Jock Jams-esque shtick that the Clash of the Titans trailer used, but I kind of want to see it. I don’t know, it has like, elements and crap flying around, and some kid with a fucked-up forehead. I’ll see that.
Anyway, I guess what I’m saying is, if someone can just tell me what an airbender is so that I don’t have to read this terrifyingly in-depth Wikipedia page, that’d be great. Thanks.

I don’t know but here’s a beer Bender

You have a world where there are four kingdoms, each allied with a different element (earth, air, water, fire). Within each kingdom you have people who can magically manipulate that element. Those people are called Benders. So an Airbender is someone who has crazy wind superpowers.
For as big of a nerd as you are there is really no excuse for you to have not seen it.

@caustic: Thanks! I like that Falkor’s in it. Netflixed.
And the Avatar is the only one who can bend them all…
After I eat some eggs and beans, I turn in to the Airbender.
You see…
..it’s a fart joke.
