The third Deschutes River Recording—a series of videos from Portland musicians shot around the Deschutes River area to raise awareness (and mad dolla bills) for the Deschutes River Conservancy—may be the most striking yet. Laura Gibson and a small crew traveled to Smith Rock State Park back in August to shoot this video for "Down by the Riverside," an old gospel song given excellent treatment by fellow Portland musicians Dave Depper, Cory Gray, Lindsay Clark, Julie Vitells, Jason Leonard, and Laurel Simmons. Making use of the cliffs' natural reverberation, this is a breathtaking recording, another highlight of the great series (see Eric D. Johnson's contribution here, and Eric Earley's here).
