Wolf PeopleAHHHhHHHnH!! Not to take anything away from the many excellent bands on this list, but Wolf People. WOLF PEOPLE. Wolf People is coming to Pickathon. They're an English band that has hardly played in America at all, and they'll be making their Portland-area debut at Pickathon and THEY ARE PHENOMENAL AND I AM EXCITED.
With two little words, the Pickathon people have made my weekend. No, my summer. No, my entire 2015. Well done.
Meanwhile, the rest of the lineup looks outstanding as well, with returning champ King Tuff alongside new stoner-rock faves Wand, Mary Timony's great new band Ex Hex, funk-bass maestro Thundercat, and terrific Oklahoma country band Turnpike Troubadours. Tickets are currently on sale and—for what I think is the first time—they're announcing that they're capping ticket sales at 3500 this year, to ensure that the festival remains sustainable and doesn't impact the grounds adversely.
Here's the official Pickathon 2015 trailer, which further emphasizes that this year is Pickathon's year of the goat. (Although you and I both know it's the year of the wolf. Because wolf. Because Wolf People. That's the band that I really like a lot.) And here's a Spotify playlist that contains almost all of 2015's performers. Tickets are on at the Pickathon site as we speak. Commence... getting excited... now.
