Buckle up, Portland hip-hop fans! It's been almost two years since hometown hero, rapper, and certified baddie Wynne packed Wonder Ballroom at the finale of her Hot On Their Heels Tour, and the artist just announced this morning six new September shows—all of them in Portland!

Dubbed the “Tour Next Door,” the prolific Rose City rapper will headline a slew of dope local venues: Starting at Specks Records on September 18 and closing out the local run at Alberta Street Pub on September 27.

DJ sets—split between DJ-producer SPINITCH and DJ Taffy (AKA Wynne’s hypeman Rafael “Raf” Newman)—are a feature of the run, and Wynne's team will soon announce a different local opener for each date, including singer-rapper Mal London and fellow emcees Milc, T $POON, Vary, DOBLEON, and Tinizeee.

Six chances to see Wynne in one month likely feels a dream for local fans, since opportunities to catch one of the emcee’s live appearances in Portland the past several years have been pretty scarce—aside from those two Hunny I’m Home shows (one in 2019, and another in 2023 in support of her stellar mixtape If I May… and EP Some Like It Hot, respectively).

For those who are new here, Wynne is known for moving like a praying mantis, with precision and intention—she strikes just when the iron is hot. And she's the queen of not over-exposing herself in terms of live shows, using that to build anticipation for bigger, high quality events. She invests more into her live shows and often pulls out all the stops to make her in-person appearances a killer experience for her avid fans.

One of the most exciting aspects of the Tour Next Door is that she’ll be playing with a live band—and of course, it’s not just any live band but Greaterkind, AKA prolific Portland-based jazz-funk fusion quartet comprising drummer Cory Limuaco, keyboardist Charlie Brown III,  Ian Michael-Lindsay on bass, and guitarist Peter Knudsen.

“I couldn’t dream up a better scenario, it’s going to feel like a house party,” says Wynne in a press release quote. “My hope is that fans leave the show high off adrenaline with a deeper understanding and investment in the music scene that they share a community with.”

Each Tour Next Door show also promises fans access to exclusive merchandise, including physical pre-released copies of her new (so far unreleased and unnamed) mixtape... while supplies last. Expect to hear more about that mixtape shortly before the tour.
