This morning TMZ reported that there was a fatality at Prince’s Paisley Park Estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota, where he lives and records. They have now confirmed that Prince—whose full name is Prince Rogers Nelson—has passed away at age 57.
Days earlier the singer’s private jet made an emergency landing in Moline, IL following a health scare. His representatives told TMZ that he’d been battling a severe flu for a few weeks. He was sent home after being treated at the hospital for a few hours.
To give thanks to his fans for all their loyalty and support throughout the ordeal, Saturday night he invited them to party with him at Paisley Park. According to Minneapolis’ Star Tribune he made a brief appearance to play piano and show fans he was in good health, and even cautioned them to “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”
Rest in peace, Prince. We miss you already.
He was treated for an overdose of opiates six days prior, but left the hospital a few hours latter because the couldn’t provide him with a private room. He was not doing well.
