Pavement will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on the 23rd of September and they want you—yes, you—to play guitar for them.

“Ever wanted to go to a TV taping? One where Pavement is playing? Stick around to try and meet the band? Go backstage? Watch soundcheck? Eat their food? Talk fantasy sports with Malkmus? Ever wanted to, you know, get your lazy ass off the couch and JOIN PAVEMENT? Then do it, goofball. Imagine the Twitter potential!”

First, pick an approved song and then grab your axe and hurry the hell up. The deadline to upload a video of yourself playing a Pavement song is next week (September 8), and following that there will be an online poll to determine a winner by the 20th. After you shred on national television the band will probably kick out Scott Kannberg and then the gig is all yours. Just don’t beat Malkmus in fantasy sports. It’s all the man cares about.

End Hits: I really wish they’d have a contest to find a new Gary Young.

One reply on “Want to Play Guitar for Pavement on National Television?”

  1. Hrm, my guitar skills aren’t the greatest, but I’m going to be in NYC that day anyway… Maybe I’ll enter. Most of what I’ve taught myself to play is Beatles or Pavement anyhow.
