Amphetamine folk !!!!!
It’s a shame that the author appears to have swallowed the whole “West Coast plastic perfection” paradigm whole. Yeah, Dylan had a raspy nasal singing voice, but he was so damn compelling that people listened to him *anyway*. To a lesser extent, Paula Abdul possessed the same ability to put on a damn good show in spite of her weak vocal ability (back when she was actually *making* music…)
Who has that sort of compelling presence nowadays? No-one! Because unless you have video-ready looks, you don’t even get in the door. How many greats of yesteryear would get turned away, if heard for the first time now? Damn near all of them!
People are so damn jaded now, one has to look and act like Lady f’k’n Gaga to attract attention. But I want to congratulate the author for elevating himself to the level of “performance artist” by sh*tting all over something that millions of people respect and love, just to attract some attention to himself. I wish him all the joy of it.
Bob Dylan has earned his position as a poet / writer, and musician. He has a whole new persona going on, I was so attracted to his music and style last year, he renewed my own understanding as a Artist. Dylan is all that and more. Yes there are those who have become jaded if you only look and listen to the commercial media. But if you get out, and experience the happenings you will soon realize, the Artists come in all sizes, shapes and forms, none resembling gaga, unless they so desire. What runs true is the artistic contributions, rather pretty or not. Dylan has always been a performer in the true sense of the word. Never reveal too much of the real you, just enough to keep them coming back for more of his ever changing art. I guess everybody must get stoned (judged) how about you? Once Upon a time, you dressed so fine, you threw the bums a dime in your prime didn’t you?
