Suck it Vantuckians!

Huzzah! Drinks and complimentary light rail lanes on me!

I've got news for Sam. When they get the slough bridge finished, the morning traffic jam will be in downtown Portland, because of the congestion around the Rose Quarter and that mess. The only traffic jam left will be in the afternoon at Jantzen Beach, and that could be alleviated by incorporating a reversible lane on the south bound bridge. They had reversible lanes when they painted the bridges several years ago, and it worked fine. One more question, why is nobody complaining about the traffic jam coming into Portland in the morning, or trying to go south in the afternoon after 5:00 pm. Those are bigger messes than anything on the I-5 bridge.

Not that it matters much. Sam will be long gone by time anything substantive re: the bridge gets done.
5
I like the way Sam basically said "I admit that my nuanced position was lost on my detractors."

"I'm the first to admit you're all hysterical and stupid. I take total responsibility for that, full stop."
6
@CH, are you saying that the bridge won't get built till 2016?
7
No Sam, what was lost was your credibility. You know, to the extent it wasn't already destroyed by your dishonesty and your conspiracy to defraud voters.

"I’m committed to making fact based decisions." Quote of the century from Adams. So are the voters, Sam. So are the voters.

I loled

RecallFAIL

Graham: Is that how long a Portland mayor term lasts? I'm fairly certain even Sam knows he's one and done.

And yes, i would say 2016 is optimistic.
10
@CH, no; Mayorial terms are four years. Sam is gonna run for congress as soon as Blumenauer retires.
11
@Graham Really? He can't be that masochistic.

Info from those opposing the CRC here: http://smarterbridge.blogspot.com/ (perhaps a bit more topic-relevant than the CLF's link in the article).

"I'm fairly certain even Sam knows he's one and done. "

What do you base your knowledge on? I would think the collective fail of the recall campaign would be painting a clear picture. Portlanders don't give a rip about the personal lives of our elected officials. A small vocal minority does. The rest don't care about a lie that was told about a question that shouldn't have been asked. Who is going to run against him anyway? Is Sho Dozono gonna mumble his way through another election? If so, please chalk up another 4 years.
14
But the council already voted. They no longer have any real authority in the final design, right?
15
Kyle,

Adams sits on the Project Sponsors Council, the group of high-powered individuals who advise the state transportation departments on the design of the bridge. He still has a prominent voice in what the bridge will look like.
16
The failure of the recall doesn't prove much other than it was a piss poor, barely funded effort at a recall. Lots of people who wouldn't sign a recall petition would vote against Sam the next time around. If someone with half a brain runs against Sam, he's toast.
17
By general understanding I have about 3/4 of a brain and last time I did not get very far.

The Vancouver Business Journal has an interview with Adams and Tim Leavitt, candidate for that race that Sarah's been reporting on in this context:
