Portland Bureau of Transportation parking manager Ellis McCoy has resigned in the midst of a federal investigation on his relationship with a contractor. Since the Aug. 10 start of the investigation, which landed McCoy in pad administrative leave, coworkers have spoke up about McCoy allegedly taking bribes and kickbacks regarding the contracts of on-street paid parking equipment. McCoy denied such claims.

Mayor Sam Adams accepted McCoy's resignation on the city's website: “We enthusiastically support the work of the U.S. Attorney and Federal Bureau of Investigation in their own ongoing investigation; their work covers whether or not a crime has occurred,” said Adams. “Our internal investigation focuses on whether local rules, city policies or procurement processes were violated.”
