Yes, I AM obsessed with suburban cops on our public transit today. From Transit Sleuth:

So when I was strolling down into town last weekend I stumbled upon this absolutely ridiculous disrespect the Beaverton Police paid to downtown Portlanders waiting for the Streetcar. This police officer, who probably didn’t need to be downtown in the first place – who knows – parked right in the tracks in a completely illegal way. You might ask why did he park this way? Well I’ll tell you, it was because he parked here and strolled happily into the Pita Pit across the street. Meanwhile the streetcar operator like a good little citizen sat there, not running the whistle and waited.

I don’t suppose anyone fancies filing a Citizen-initiated citation against this chap, do they?

  2. The obvious answer is to outlaw Pita Pits and streetcars. Cuz we need more Beaverton police in downtown PDX.

    What ever happened to that dude who did the citizen citation on that other illegaly parked cop who was getting food?

  3. I’ve recently seen the parking guy in Oregon City taking videos of cop cars parked at trolley stops and expired meters…wonder where that info is going. A little public shaming would be a heckuva way to start off weekly meetings!

  4. The citizen citation story? I’ve not heard from the guy in a while…I’ll follow up. Hope he’s not lying in a ditch somewhere.

  5. Personally, I don’t think anybody that stupid, ignorant, inobservant and/or inconsiderate has any business holding a drivers license… let alone a gun or a badge.

    One of the perks of being the police is you get to park wherever you want.

    I’d probably do it too if I were the police.

  7. No reason NOT dto hire Jason Sery. He’s a good cop who did his job. He’s never been found neglegent, guilty, or indicted for anything. If only YOU were as good a human as Jason Sery. I’m glad I live in Beaverton and not Portland.

    As far as the picture goes, it’s only a picture. We’re not given any background as to WHY it’s there, and we aren’t privy to anything that may be occuring outside the frame. For all we know YOU could have shot at the car and he/she stopped to pursue you. Or perhaps you stole the car and parked it there. Beaverton Police often bring prisoners to Portland during all hours of the day.

    It’s only a picture.
