Trading rich folks’ tax “cuts” for unemployment relief: Mitch McConnell, don of the Senate Republicans, appears to have gotten what he wanted—billions for the people who need it least—after holding a gun to Democrats’ heads. Frank Rich of the NYT has some thoughts about all this.
The Very Serious Plot to Blow Up Pioneer Courthouse Square! The Oregonian has a pair of prominently played stories this morning: One is about entrapment and the questions some are raising about the FBI’s sting of Mohamed Osman Mohamud, and the other is a look at Mohamud’s family and the long journey that brought them from Somalia to the United States.
Kyron Horman (remember him, everybody? I’m looking at you, national media!) won’t become a “cold case.” Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton tells the O his team is still looking.
WikiLeaks Day 7: The Chinese government hacks way better than any speed-fueled laptop nerd stealing WiFi from the curb outside your house. Our friends in the Middle East keep giving money to our non-friends. Life is still shitty for Julian Assange. Also, some of the more stylish, sophisticated writing in the cables is no accident, and it’s won some fans.
Iran is all, like, we got this nuke shit UNDER CONTROL, bitches.
Ecuador’s Throat of Fire is acting up. (Put your boners away, boys. It’s a volcano.)
Charming fixer-upper in the Montana heartland; comes with bomb residue and bad vibes. Yes, you too can bid on the chance to own the Unabomber’s creepy, remote, wooden cabin.
Dane Cook is still not my cup of tea.
Don’t mail anyone your gold.

I bet he has the letter framed in his restaurant.
Good Morning.
If he can´t have a wall up full of Celebrity Pictures with him in different interesting and important poses he must have a couple of this up on the wall. Which is way better.
Good Morning.
…go ducks?
That letter is as fake as can be, but it’s still funny.
Ted’s cabin was confiscated, as the article mentions, but you could buy the remote patch of woodland, build a new ramshackle cabin, and wait for the tourists who’ll never come, and the disturbed wingnuts who will.
Say what you want about the FBI’s actions, but if they prove the facts alleged in their affidavit, they did a remarkable job of building their case while deftly undercutting the anticipated entrapment defense.
@ Todd: Uhm, that´s what I was thinking. Cash4Gold would never have it´s main offices in the Pompanos.

Warning! BankRun 2010: Fascism in Disguise.
BankRun 2010 is a mass cash withdrawals from the banks. It is initiated by retired football player Eric Cantona, organised on the Internet by a network of Facebook events and has attracted an unduly high attention from the media.

I thought that it was spontaneous and naive and thought that I could hang myself to it in order to establish La Nouvelle Économie After a Skype discussion with Géraldine Feuillien I came to the conclusion that its brain manipulator is still unknown and his purpose is to establish an economic system probably fascist that will emerge by terror rather than a movement that will foster the economic interests of each of us.
Underestimating, on the short and medium run, the magnitude of this movement, its infamous character and the power of its sponsors would be suicidal.
To preempt the evil intentions of BankRun 2010 I will propose as quickly as possible an economy after the inevitable financial crash has occurred. This market economy will be free of credit. It will hence strip the banks of their relevance.
The page of our community contains precious instructions concerning measures to be taken before December 7 to preserve your life savings.
La Nouvelle Économie.
