Occupy Blogtown: If you missed last night’s coverage, here’s the dish. Aside from two protesters that were arrested for tagging a police car, the rally remains peaceful and organized. Sarah ate some pie and slept in the dirt. After discussing a move, Denis reports that the group is choosing to stay put in Chapman Square, despite the cops’ 9 a.m. deadline and the looming marathon that runs through their camp. However, the police are joking with protesters and seemingly relaxed for now. For more updates, check out the live blog (we’ll be running it until noon).

Meanwhile, on Wall St.: As Occupy Wall Street grows, Obama comments: “Demonstrators are giving a voice to those frustrated with the financial system.” Joe Biden compares the protest to the Tea Party movement.

…And Elsewhere: Occupy Wall Street goes global as Occupy London, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and others form.

Representin’: Three women activists from Liberia and Yemen are awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the first time since 2004 that women have been awarded.

Are We There Yet?: Today marks the 10th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan. Slowly but surely, the US is narrowing its goals for the county.

Too Soon? :The new iPhone 4 goes on pre-sale today.

Crying Out:The woman who was kicked off the bus with a crying baby by the TriMet driver speaks up.

99 Percent Poultry: Now for a personal favorite from Occupy Portland…

  1. GOOD MORNING, ALEX! HOW ARE YOU?!? SO SARAH SLEPT IN THE DIRT AND ATE PIE. HOW IS THAT ANY DIFFERENT THAN HOW SARAH USUALLY SPENDS HER EVENINGS?!?

  2. So in 2004, three women activists from Liberia and Yemen also won the Nobel Peace Prize?

Also, “fist time.” While it is true that’s the name of my webcam service, I’m not sure it belongs in that sentence.

  3. So was there any trouble with the Snack Block Anarchiologits smashing the state???
Some pals were out there with portable soundsystem and they report good vibes brohams.

  4. @5, I just assumed Abusive was promoting the work of Johannes Brahms, who would definitely bring “good vibes” over a portable soundsystem.

  5. Also, as mentioned by a librarian during the morning announcements at my place of employment (before the public entered, though): today is Dan Savage’s birthday.

  6. Not to dampen the Nobel news, but it’s worth pointing out that one recipient, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is a war criminal who has sold her country to American contractors like Firestone. Also, she’s inching closer toward dictator territory and is conducting a corrupt campaign in a fraudulent and rigged election as we speak. SO THERE’S THAT.
