Man, this warm weather has not brought out the best in this city. Following a weekend riddled with gunfire, Portland police responded to another shooting Monday evening, this one at the drive-thru of an East Portland McDonald’s, where two people were found wounded.

In case you slept on it, we had a story about the massive records request that has been filed with the EPA on behalf of the City of Portland and 13 other entities that polluted the Willamette River. It normally wouldn’t be an issue, except the EPA’s under a tight deadline to get a plan for cleaning up that pollution finished by the end of the year. Some are saying the records request is a “delay-and-disrupt tactic.”

Portland’s new interim fire chief is Ken Burns, and he’d like to tell you A LOT about the history of jazz. (I have no idea if that’s true. At any rate, not the one Ken Burns.)

News From Rural Oregon (Part 1): A growing contingent of counties are parsing the words of federal natural resources policy to insist they have an equal say in how federal land is used (hint: it should be exploited for resources). Some don’t think their theory holds water.

News From Rural Oregon (Part 2): Just a couple of guys illegally shooting and beheading large mammals on the side of an interstate. Move along. Nothing to see here.

More light rail? A new Metro report says a Max extension to the Southwest suburbs makes way more sense than “rapid-transit” buses. No fancy expensive tunnel, though.

Meanwhile, bad news for you red and blue line devotees who take the train downtown: a two-week, $2 million project in May will mean headaches.

“It is hard to stress enough what a victory this is for liberal supporters of voting rights.” The Supreme Court ruled Monday states can’t redraw voting districts in a way that would give Republicans a steep advantage, like Texas hoped to do.

The Trib went looking for all that government transparency Gov. Kate Brown promised when she took office in the wake of scandal. It didn’t find much (and not because transparency might, by definition, be hard to see).

In Presidential Politics:

•The Wisconsin primary is here, and it could be a biggie. A loss for Donald Trump could spell difficulty for him going forward, but his main competition, Ted Cruz, is just seething that John Kasich won’t get out of the race. Here’s how the delegate picture looks.

•And, hey! Bernie Sanders finally has an Oregon campaign office. It’s in Eugene.

I know that we all stopped caring about men’s college basketball when Michigan State went out of the tournament, but Villanova won a national championship last night in dramatic fashion.

Read about the Panama Papers, if you haven’t. Fallout from the millions of leaked documents, offering insight into the world’s legally dubious wealth hidey holes, could be around for a long time. Right now, the prime minister of Iceland is feeling the heat.

I don’t trust this pleasant weather in April, yet I embrace it like a lost brother.
