I’m Isabella Garcia, the most recent addition to the Portland Mercury’s news team! I’ll be covering stories about local transportation, the environment, and more.
I’ve been working in journalism for the past four years, reporting on anything from criminal justice reform and public health issues to protests and mutual aid, but most predominantly—and fondly—writing solutions journalism with an emphasis on community responses to social inequities.
I grew up in Portland and can be carbon dated by my references to PGE Park and nostalgia for those newspaper-esque TriMet tickets with the expiration time at the top.
You can find me on Twitter @isabellaaliciaa and send story tips to igarcia@portlandmercury.com!
