Back in August, I reported on the two Southeast Portland art galleries that were targetted by graffiti abatement police after hosting street art shows

Now, thanks to a couple people on Twitter, I just found out that Portland arts group B Media Collective made Create/Abate, a mini-documentary about the incidents. It includes interviews with the gallery owners as well as city graffiti abatement coordinator Marcia Dennis. Check it out!

(p.s. There’s also a cool looking documentary about graffiti removal vigilantes at the Clinton Street Theater this weekend.)

Sarah Shay Mirk reported on transportation, sex and gender issues, and politics at the Mercury from 2008-2013. They have gone on to make many things, including countless comics and several books.
