Multnomah County has placed two senior managers on leave pending a new investigating into how the county’s Mental Health and Addiction Services Division fields complaints about mental health care facilities. The county is particularly looking into the way complaints about treatment at Unity Center for Behavioral Health are handled, after “learning about potential issues” with the system last week.

County spokesperson Julie Sullivan-Springhetti cannot comment on which two staffers were put on leave, or why.

This news comes after the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) made public the results of its own months-long investigation into Unity Center, which was triggered by a number of patient and employee complaints. OHA found that the health center was endangering patients and staff by shirking critical rules, and gave Unity until September 11 to fix the numerous problems.
