A Portland police captain has been temporarily removed from his position as of this morning due to his alleged involvement in a road rage incident while off-duty in Idaho earlier this month. According to Washington State Patrol troopers — who received a call about the incident from Idaho border town Post Falls — Capt. Todd Wyatt brandished a pistol while interacting with another driver on I-90 at 11:23am on Aug 13. The Washington troopers stopped Wyatt later that day, turning him over to the Idaho State Police for further investigation.

However, the Idaho State Police say they have no record of an incidents involving Wyatt in the last three months, so it’s unclear what, exactly, is going on in this investigation. The allegation harks back to the dual PPB road rage cases involving Sergeant Kyle Nice and Portland Police Association boss Scott Westerman last spring. Wyatt, Captain of the Traffic Division, has been reassigned by the Portland Police Bureau to the Drugs and Vice Division. PPB refuses to comment until the investigation is over.

  1. Goes with the name amigo… don’t worry, your moment of glorious rage is sure to come. Hang in there!

A policeman should know better. A police Captain should be demoted.

  2. So if you are in charge of the traffic bureau and you pull a gun on another driver then they put you in vice? Great now he can wave a gun at random prostitutes…

  3. I’m starting to think we need to require our police officers to participate in x hours of mediation and yoga per week. If that doesn’t calm them the fuck down, interpretative dance. Yes, in a leotard. Viewable by the public on YouTube. Rather my tax dollars pay for *that* rather than the legal & PR nightmare we have to foot the bill for now.
