The city didn’t send out any hasty press releases this morning or over the weekend, so it looks like the oft-extended deadline for Portland’s Arts Tax might actually stand today, after all.
The hapless tax—which still faces legal challenges—has been pushed back again and again, first because of imprecise language, then because of problems with the city’s website. But for real, guys. Today’s the day.
I’ve been as guilty as anyone of hedging, but finally paid yesterday. I’m no scofflaw. See?

Everyone’s got their own take on this thing, I realize, but if you’ve intended to pay the tax and just forgot, now is probably the time. It’s a $15 penalty if you miss today’s deadline, and that rises to $35 if you haven’t paid by October. Here’s a link.

Haha, funny
MERCURY 2012: SUPPORT THE PORTLAND ARTS TAX!
MERCURY 2013: WHAT A RIDICULOUS, STUPID TAX!
That’s called evolution, D&W
I THOUGHT EVOLUTION WAS WHEN MONKEYS LEARNED HOW TO GIVE EACH OTHER BLOWJOBS OR SOME SICK SHIT LIKE THAT.
PAID. Bitch.
Obviously, what this city needs is a Science Tax instead of a Arts Tax, judging by the fluoride vote.
I’ll pay the tax as soon as I get some recognition that my talent for purse snatching is a form of performance art, protected by the 1st Amendment, and is keeping a tradition alive.
