As first hinted at earlier this week in Willamette Week, the Portland Tribune has now confirmed that the Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network plans to probe the January 29 shooting of Aaron Campbell.

The request came during a broadcast of Sharpton’s “Keeping it Real” radio show.

“We are not satisfied and do not accept the grand jury’s decision of an acquittal,” said Ruth Pitts-London, National Action Network Oregon chapter president. “It is apparent the district attorney’s investigation is lax on justice as is the grand jury.”

“Change in policies should have been implemented long prior to the murder of Mr. Campbell Douglass,” said the Rev. DeVes Toon, the association’s national field director.

Matt Davis was news editor of the Mercury from 2009 to May 2010.

  1. “Matthew”-

    Go F yourself you pos!

And “Ckeller”- Where were you this monring? You big pussy!

  2. I’m a big fan of Rev. Al’s radio show, but local transmission on KBMS 1480 leaves a lot to be desired (perhaps the only radio station w/o a web site?). Perhaps you aren’t regular listeners. It’s the default position as petitioners call in for various sorts of vengeance that the “House of Justice” will investigate. Follow through, I think, is somewhat like the signal, wavering and sometimes just not there at all.
