One of the few protesters during the huge July #ShellNO protest who was actually arrested and charged with a crime, Jonah Majure, will be in court tomorrow, and he wants supporters to show up.
Majure on July 30 locked himself by his neck to the railroad bridge upstream of St. Johns Bridge in an attempt to keep the Fennica docked in Portland following its repairs at Vigor Industrial. He didn’t stay locked for long; police removed Majure and took him into custody. He was arraigned the following day at the Multnomah County Justice Center on one charge of first-degree trespass.
Majure’s former attorney, Ben Andersen, says tomorrow’s appearance will be a hearing to determine whether Majure wants to plead guilty, go to trial, or enter into a “diversion-type program.”
If you want to show your support for Majure, there will be coffee and bagels at 8:15 am at Lownsdale Square. From there, supporters will head back over to the justice center for the hearing.

Ha! “Diversion”. What would that entail? Training on how to not be such a sheep and blindly follow anything that his greenpeace puppet masters tell him to do? Training on how stupid it is to lock yourself to a damned bridge by your neck, and then blast pictures of it out to the web with a smug, douchey look on your face?
Corrected headline: Pointless Protest by Useless Person Provides Fodder for Area Newsrag
Well, if he reimburses me for the lost fossil fuel and extra time I spent in traffic, about a gallon and an hours time, then sure I’ll support him.
The story not being really reported here is how Greenpeace was – in the end – totally played by Shell.
^^Worthless keyboard warriors. There. I saved you some time (hopefully)
“he wants supporters to show up”
In other words, doesn’t want to face the consequences of his actions alone. Still not grown up.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. He was doing what he could in the only way he knew how to do it. I applaud him for his efforts. Far more noble than the other hundreds of millions of pathetic americans buying convenience at the expense of their children with an addiction to fossil fuels. Only morons and monsters use fossil fuels where alternatives exist.
Hey Christopher – dude, nice ride in that pic there!
Looks like a brand new car at that!
Priceless.
Nothing wrong with cars Frankie… so long as they don’t require burning oil to move ๐ Gotta get around somehow.
