Let’s talk about this naked guy at Portland International Airport a little bit more, shall we? I’m not ready to acknowledge any other relevant news until I run this glorious story into the ground. Like Steve mentioned twice in Good Morning News!, 49-year-old John Brennan undressed and refused to put his clothes back on at PDX’s TSA checkpoint on his way to San Jose, California.
Brennen told Port of Portland police that he “had disrobed as a form of protest against TSA Screeners who he felt were harassing him.” He was arrested for both disorderly conduct and indecent exposure after struttin’ about in his birthday suit for a good chunk of time—at least long enough for “some passengers to cover their eyes and their children’s eyes,” according the police, and take some quality photos (warning: BUTT) of the scene.
Here’s his response, on Facebook:

The twist is that KATU decided to contact Brennan’s father (also John Brennan) who was befuddled by his son’s actions. “This is quite a shock. He hasn’t been under any stress that I know of. He’s never really under any stress. He works for a computer company in California. He does something with the Internet, which is just kind of mystical to me. This is quite a surprise.”
This form of attention-grabbing protesting takes a page from Occupy Portland’s “Boobs Out for Hanford” model. Is nudity the new gas mask?
Here’s MSNBC’s take on it:

Awesome! Fuck Michael Chertoff and the TSA!
Those glasses should be illegal.
Good for him. We decided as a country long ago that we value the feeling of being safe far more than actually being safe. None of the TSA screening horseshit does anything to catch or deter terrorists. It simply makes us feel like they have done everything they can to keep someone from hijacking the next flight.
Other countries with real national security priorities (Germany, Israel, Italy) laugh at us. They actually do.
More people need to do this. I don’t have the guts myself.
IN FIVE YEARS, WE’LL ALL BE REQUIRED TO FLY NAKED. THIS GUY IS JUST A TREND-SETTER.
Wait, public nudity is legal in Oregon. How could he be charged with indecent exposure? Was he patting his Tiny Engineer seductively?
My hero. (At least for today)
I think he was making a point…a real point. Bravo for him! I do realize the TSA agents are getting paid to do a job, and that they are instructed to do “this and that” when “alarm” sounds, but good God, they are mauling 6-year-olds, stripping 90-year-olds to their panties and sticking their hands in men’s AND women’s croches. How bout we bring out the head of TSA and strip that a-hole down to his panties and let a few hundred people stick they’re grubby hands on his sac an see how well he likes it…EVERY TIME HE FLYS.
I for one don’t mind the TSA gropings.
I have seen the photo’s (oh dear), and fella yes, it should be. But I utterly agree with his stance on the TSA however
All blessings upon you Mr. Brennan. TSA is not keeping us safer with their invasive pat downs and all one must go through now to board a plane. It is demeaning and it is not making us safer. That people are so enthusiastically compliant to this stupidity is perplexing to me. And it is happening just the same in Europe as here.
