A knife-weilding man shot on Sunday by police after he allegedly broke into a Southeast Portland home is alive and in critical condition in a Portland hospital.
The Portland Police Bureau identified the suspect as 47-year-old Michael Shawn Harrison. Harrison sustained “several gunshot wounds as well as several serious self-inflicted cuts to his arms and abdomen,” according to the most recent news release.
According to police, the investigation began around 2:15 pm when officers responded to reports of a man leaving a home in the 3900 block of SE 14th Ave. after cutting himself with a knife. As officers were responding, additional information came in indicating the man was “armed with a steak knife, and that he was upset over a pending divorce.”
Shortly after the initial call, police received a separate call from a resident of a home in the 1500 block of SE Boise saying a bloody man with a knife had broken in her home and that she was hiding in the basement with two young children.
Police report that Harrison exited the home, still armed with a knife and “sprinted toward officers” who were waiting across 15th Ave. from the home.
Sgt. Martin Padilla, who’s been with the force for 17 years, fired a “less-lethal” round at Harrison. Officer Raelynn McKay, a three-year PPB officer, fired her handgun at him as he ran.
Officers subdued Harrison after a brief struggle and were able to administer medical aid immediately. Harrison does not have a history of similar incidents, according to court records.
No officers were injured in the incident. Both Padilla and McKay have been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, as per department policy. Following an investigation, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office will determine what, if any, criminal charges to file against Harrison. The DA’s office will also determine if the amount of force officers used was justified in this incident.

What’s the point of firing a bean bag at him, after he’d already been pumped full of bullets; just to make the incident report sound more friendly? How far away from the police was he when he sprinted in their general direction? Did he even see the police from that far away? Why didn’t they yell, “Halt! Police” ?
I’m glad this “knife-weilding” man is expected to “surive”. Copy-editing is a dying art…
Every book I’ve read on the subject of any martial art, invariably is prefaced with the caveat to use no more force than necessary to end the altercation. Since the police don’t adhere to that principal, I’d say they are a pack of chickenshit pack dogs, and if anybody so much as grabs me, since I have no way to read their mind, I therefore must be justified in acting no different the do the police. Only difference is, I’m unarmed and likely to be alone, but hey, no problemo.
With so many police on the scene, they could just as easily tossed a net over the guy. In Japan, a police officer would not have drawn his concealed firearm, but would have successfully apprehended and subdued the suspect, just the same.
Even if the police ever actually do, “go by the book,” the book they go by is a how to guide to police misconduct. It’s based upon the Lieber Code, which has subverted The Bill of Rights since the end of Lincoln’s War against Christian America.
The Joint Terrorism Task Force is trained to deal with ISIS, not civilians.
Lincoln became the Commander over an occupied territory, the former United States of America, with the initiation of The Lieber Code on April 24, 1863. After Lincoln’s war, some Southern Christian states began to ask why there were still occupying Union Commanders in the Field. They soon learned that the Christian civil government had been abolished and military government (Martial Rule and Law) was the only jurisdiction and authority over civil Rights and Christian Law in this new time of alleged peace. This was the result of the many Reconstruction Acts. At the turn of the Twenty-first century, these Acts are still in full force and effect.
This is part one of a three part series concerning the facts and events that brought about the abolition of Christian America, the former united States of America.

I, for one, do not expect a police officer to intentionally grapple with a man/woman that has a knife in his hand and is apparently willing to use it. Drop the knife, or get shot. I am surprised that the bean bag rounds didn’t stop him. Personally, I think he was attempting suicide-by-cop.
