Portland Will Pay Nearly $1.6 Million for Independent Monitor to Oversee City's Compliance With DOJ Settlement

An independent monitor will now oversee an ongoing settlement agreement between the US DOJ and the city regarding police practices. The oversight team includes the current LAPD inspector general and a former Portland youth violence prevention team lead.
