Bernie’s coming back! Well, he’s coming to the ‘Couve, anyhow, as part of an effort to show some serious momentum in the Washington primary caucuses or be swept away in a tide of Hillary Clinton delegates. Hudson’s Bay High School. Sunday. Doors at 11 am.

One group that’ll be showing up in droves to Sunday’s rally? White dudes, who are one of the big demographic holdouts for Hillary Clinton this time around. That wasn’t the case when she was running against Obama.

The Grant County sheriff is under investigation by the state Department of Justice, stemming from his coziness with (allegedly) felonious anti-government zealots (“patriots” to Sheriff Glenn Palmer) who took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge earlier this year. You remember, I’m sure.

Man, did you guys see Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder get raked over the coals by a Congressional committee yesterday? They’re not buying Snyder’s specious claims that he had no way of knowing Flint’s water was lead-tainted or that there was a problem with legionnaires’ disease, when warning signs were popping up all over the place. Snippet: “I’ve had about enough of your false contrition and your phony apologies. Plausible deniability only works when it’s plausible…”

City officials finally have the ability to force affordable housing as a condition of new apartment buildings. That policy, called inclusionary zoning (IZ), had been outlawed for nearly two decades until Gov. Kate Brown signed a package of laws yesterday. In Portland fashion, the city’s setting up a committee-based process around figuring out what IZ means here.

The Oregonian thinks you should move to the suburbs because you can shop at box stores “without hipsters calling you out” and it’s harder to go out to eat.

One Multnomah County prosecutor guarantees that a child will be abducted in the county, police will find his or her cell phone, and Apple’s rotten-bastard encryption technology will foil police from cracking the case. I guess because parents wouldn’t know their child’s cell phone password? Anyway, it’s a guarantee.

Ugh. An EMS supervisor in Cleveland—site of the tragic police shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice—posted to Facebook he wished he could have shot Rice himself. Then he blamed the post on someone who picked up his phone? Damage done. He was fired.

What’s up with Merrick Garland, the new Supreme Court nominee who’s been shunted to political purgatory? The NYT takes a look at this judicial record, and finds it’s about as centrist as you could imagine for a Democratic president to put forward in these high-stakes times—but also that Garland’s adherence to Supreme Court precedence hasn’t revealed much about how he’d rule if he were atop of the nation’s judicial system.

Clutch any stray and fading sunbeam to your bosom today, Portland. Odds are it will be your last.
