Ready, set, THURSDAY!
Let’s get this started right: Because Burning Man isn’t gross enough, it now comes with it’s very own infestation of swarming, biting bugs. And I don’t mean the people. Have fun, Burners!
Speaking of bugs: Here’s not one, but two websites to see if your sensitive parts were bitten by the Ashley Madison information leak.
Deez Nuts is giving Republican presidential hopeful and complete asshat Donald Trump a run for his money, though, so at least something good is happening.
Ride-share fans can also rejoice: Portland city officials announced they’re extending a pilot program, which allows transportation network companies Uber and Lyft to temporarily operate alongside traditional taxis, until October instead of ending the program this month as originally planned.
But remember what mom said: Be careful getting into cars with strangers! Apparently the TNC companies missed criminal records on 25 drivers who gave thousands of rides in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Today is day four of Anna Mae Leonard’s hunger strike in Cascade Locks. Leonard, a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, has pledged to drink and eat nothing for five days in protest of Nestle’s attempts to build a water bottling and shipping plant at Oxbow Springs in the Columbia Gorge. As reported last month by the Mercury, the tribes may be able to prove senior water rights and block deal.

With the region experiencing record-breaking temperatures, Leonard is going to have a difficult time without water.
The heat and dry weather have sparked blazes in Washington that killed three firemen and injured four others on Wednesday.
National Guard troops are coming to help local firefighters battle Oregon’s nearly two dozen blazes after a request for help from Governor Kate Brown.
Sorry I talked about Trump. Here’s a video of the Republican debate with lip-syncing to make it tolerable:
