GOOD MORNING, BLOGTOWN! Stay kickin’ game with a capital G, ask the peoples on my block, I’m as real as can be. LET’S GO TO PRESS.

Details are sketchy, but police shot and killed a man last night in East Portland. Find out what we know so far here, and stay tuned throughout the day for details. It’s the second fatal officer-involved shooting of 2015.

The Oregonian discovers nudity. Good for them.

The Portland Timbers beat the snot out of our despicable rivals, the Seattle Sounders with a crushing score of 4-1. Yessssssssss. Go on, cry baby! CRYYYYYY!!!

So much for the Supremes being on our good side—the Justices strike down the Environmental Protection Agency’s rules against air pollution, inspiring coal-powered plants to proclaim, “Smoke ’em if you got ’em!”

You remember the Supremes gave the a-ok to same sex marriage nationwide, right? Well, guess who’s trying to wiggle out of the deal? (Hint: “Clap, clap, clap, clap… deep in the heart of ______.”)

Meanwhile, presidential wannabe Mike Huckabee says that he is the Martin Luther King, Jr. (of homophobes).

And meanwhile again, fucking crybaby Ted Cruz bawled to Katie Couric about how the Supreme Court rewrote the Constitution. BOO-FUCKING-BOO-HOO-HOO.

The cinematic-style manhunt of those two escaped New York prisoners is finally over, after one was shot and killed on Friday, and the other captured yesterday (he was shot, but is in critical, but stable condition).

And what about this WEATHER: Partly cloudy with a high of 85 today, with heat wave number two on its way.

And finally, thanks for joining me today, and tune in Wednesday for another Good Morning, News when… I’LL BE BACK!

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. While certainly no fan of Huckabee, one could argue that blacks have been less tolerant of gays than whites have been – on the whole – so maybe this is what Huckabee is saying?
